W Company

The cadets of W Company again did us proud by racing to victory in Northumbria ACF's annual Cross Country Competition.

Blyth beach was the venue for the 1.5 mile dune run, with the fierce wind making it even more of a challenge to tackle the wet and uneven ground.

Today's medal haul, the Company's best ever performance at the event, was as follows:

Winners of the Junior Girls category:

- Cdt Caitlin Watson (Broomhill)

Winners of the Junior Boys category:
- Cdt Tom Hoer (Bellingham)
- Cdt Calvin Baston (Broomhill)
- Cdt Matthew Nixon (Broomhill)

Runners up of the Intermediate Girls category:
- Cdt Hannah Rogerson (Alnwick)
- LCpl Ruth Rose (Broomhill)
- Cdt Catherine Phillips (Broomhill)

Fastest in Senior Girls category:
- Cpl Meg Straker (Alnwick)

Second fastest in Senior Boys category:
- Cpl Luke Wintrip (Broomhill)

Some of the winning cadets will now be selected for the Regional event later in the year.

The OC W Company thanks all the cadets for their tremendous efforts today and congratulates them on their well deserved medals. Thanks also to the adults who gave their time in support of the event.

Winning the cross country is the perfect first step towards winning the coveted Champion Company trophy this year.
