Fourteen of W Company's finest were put through their paces at today's first Northumbrian Warrior training session at Alnwick.

Northumbrian Warrior is the County's annual military skills competitions, which sees W Company compete against teams from across Northumbria ACF.

The team began the day by warming up their brains preparing a route card. This gave them plenty of practice at the essential skills of route finding, taking bearings and measuring distances.

After a spot of first aid training, the team headed out onto Alnwick Moor for a gentle 6 km speed march. Blessed with glorious weather the team made good progress up Clayport Bank and along to Rugley Wood. After catching their breath at Rugley the team doubled back on themselves for the gentle climb then descent back into Alnwick.

The afternoon concluded with an hour of weapon handling on the GP rifle and an hour on the range with the .22 rifle.

Elsewhere within the TA Centre, W Company's new PIs were receiving their final induction training under the watchful eye of Company Sergeant Major, SMI Dave Guthrie.

More photographs from the day can be seen in our photo gallery.

The next Northumbrian Warrior training session will be held at Alnwick on Wednesday, 27th April 2011.

Lt Lister is organising training this year and will decide the final team. It will probably be after the next weekend, which is due to be held on 27th April 2011.
