Broomhill Detachment - Badged to the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers

A message from the Detachment Commander

SSI R. Brown

Hello all. I am Broomhill's Detachment Commander and have been for around two years now. I joined the Army Cadet Force as a cadet in 2002 at Broomhill.  I managed to progress to the rank of Cadet Sergeant and completed most of my 4* training before leaving to re-join immediately as an adult instructor.

My job as a Detachment Commander involves recruiting and retaining cadets, training, discipline and ensuring the cadets are having fun every evening. The most rewarding thing I have found is watching cadets maturing from a young recruit to a senior cadet, almost a young adult, and helping them achieve things that they may not have thought possible when they first joined.

I am also an active and keen participant in the DofE Award. Having completed a course on how to run the award, I oversee a number of detachments' DofE progress and help cadets keep on track and complete the different awards.
