Berwick's Guard of Honour to the Duchess of Northumberland.

On Saturday 1st December members of the detachment were honoured to meet the Duchess of Northumberland as she visited Berwick to switch on the town's Jubilee Lamp.

After meeting Her Grace in the Guildhall, eight cadets formed a guard of honour for the Duchess, the Deputy Lieutenant of Northumberland, Leader of the  Northumberland County Council, Berwick's Civic Partyand local town councillors.  Cadet McCleod J performed the duty of escort to the Duchess along with local  veteran Mr Henry McCreath, a former Far East Prisoner of War.

After the switching on of the lamp the cadets then took part in the town's Christmas lights switch on and in the Carol Service on the Guildhall steps.

Remembrance Day 2012

This is an important day in the Cadet calendar where the cadets join the country in remembering those who have laid down their life for our freedom.  These are some of the photographs from around the county this year, the first from Broomhill Detachment. Followed by Amble and then Berwick. If any one has any other photo they would like to add please let me know.

Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacon, 4-5 June 2012

Cadets from W Company spent Bank Holidays Monday and Tuesday at the Mootlaw Diamond Jubilee Beacon site. Most of Monday was spent sorting wood and constructing the beacon. One of the local farmers had been drying the wood for the past 3 or 4 months to make sure it burnt well. We packed the inside of the beacon with straw and some special ingredients to make sure it lit first time. The beacon was lit at 10:01 pm and burnt until the early hours of Tuesday morning. After a leisurely start on Tuesday we relaid the turf and tidied the site.

Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacon Building, 3 June 2012

Cadets from W Company spent most of today preparing the site of tomorrow night's Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacon, which will be taking place at Mootlaw about 3 miles north east of Matfen. We began by clearing a 20 metre square section of turf and setting up some wooden palettes, which will act as the heart of the fire.

W Company Weekend, 25-27 May 2012

Cadets from W Company undertook fieldcraft training at Otterburn this weekend. Junior cadets were based over at Cottonshope Head and the seniors over at Featherwood. The weekend of glorious sunshine, relentless heat and perfect blues skies made this weekend even more of a challenge for the cadets.

More photos will be added here as they become available.
